Superheroes vs. Ordinary Heroes…

Or 3 Reasons Why I Recommend a Professional Website

Nothing is more American than stories about superheroes. From the golden age of comic books to the current age of high-grossing box office hits, audiences have been captivated by the image of these god-like figures who walk among us.

However, I represent a minority — I’m a tech geek who doesn’t care much for this sort of thing. I don’t identify with superheroes because they’re usually too perfect. I don’t enjoy the stories because they’re usually too predictable. And I don’t experience much suspense because the stakes are too low and the challenges too simple when the protagonist is faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive…

The real world is different. Our world is unpredictable, the stakes are always high and the challenges complex. Luckily, our world is populated with ordinary heroes.

Ordinary Heroes

Ordinary heroes are the people who repair our pickup trucks, fix our plumbing, set our broken bones or deliver to our doorstep that new pizza stone we “Amazon-Primed” (in subzero temperatures at 7:30 pm on a Wednesday).

Ordinary heroes are the men and women who dedicate their attention and energy to learning how to do something really well. They study their craft in college, gain experience through years of trial and error, and keep up to date with the latest tips and techniques. Ordinary heroes get the job done faster and better than we could on our own.

I prefer ordinary heroes to superheroes because radioactive spider-bites don’t really give you super-powers, but radiologists who help fight cancer do. Which leads me to my larger point (three points to be exact).

3 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Professional for your Website

Here are the top three reasons why you should hire a professional (ordinary hero) to build your next web project.

  1. You could get trapped in ‘development purgatory.’ The number one story I hear from new clients is that they enlisted a friend or family member to build a website years ago, but it never quite got finished. I understand that people want to save money, but you need to get the job done quickly and correctly. At Flathead Beacon, we deliver most websites in under 8 weeks.
  2. Just because the Wix demo looks impressive, doesn’t necessarily mean your site will turn out that way. We’ve all seen commercials for DIY websites — they make it look so easy. In fact, many of my clients didn’t come to me until they decided to abandon all hopes on DIY options. At Flathead Beacon we have a team of 4 award-winning, dedicated graphic designers who create jaw-dropping websites, billboards, newspapers and magazines.
  3. There’s more to a good website than strong design. We’ve all heard the old adage that beauty is only skin deep. This is also true in web design. Even if you can successfully accomplish 65% of the work, you’ll often run into challenges whether it’s trying to achieve a professional look, programming a contact form or setting up a shop to accept digital payments. At Flathead Beacon we have nerds galore to program custom features for your next project.

If any of these reasons sound familiar or if you’ve just been looking for the right people to build your website then call us today. We might be ordinary heroes, but we deliver extraordinary work!
